Great Barrington – The Berkshire International Film Festival (BIFF) is pleased to announce the collaboration with the Laughing Moon Film Festival, a student run film festival, which will now be referred to as the Berkshire Student Film Festival (BSFF). The top student films chosen will be showcased during the Festival, May 17 – 20, 2007 in Great Barrington, MA.
“I had always envisioned having a student component to the festival,” commented Kelley Vickery, founder and director of BIFF. “When it came to my attention that a student had created one, I felt it could be the perfect opportunity for the festival to incorporate such a vision. BIFF believes that involving and nurturing the creativity of our youth in this vital
community is a big priority. It is our hope to showcase the best of the creative spirit from our high school community, and give them the chance to be seen not only by their peers, but also by the film community at large.”
The Laughing Moon Film Festival was founded last May by Julia Moore, then a freshman student of Lee High School. The first LMFF had a modest start, with about fifty people showing up as audience and eleven wonderful submissions. The event will once again feature short films produced, directed and starring Berkshire County high school students. “I was overjoyed about being contacted by BIFF because they were so
successful last year,” said Julia. “This year I hope to kick it up a notch, and starting a union with BIFF will surely contribute to a lot of the success I hope for this film fest.”
The call for entries is presently open to students from any and all Berkshire County High Schools. Films submitted should be no longer than fifteen minutes and should contain no excessive blood and gore, nudity, and explicit language. For further information and
submission forms, please visit www.biffma.com. Five of the best films will win cash and prized and will be showcased at BIFF. The submission due date is March 1, 2007.
